CLUB CAPTAIN OWEN, BADGE TEAM UPDATES

LADIES PREMIER LEAGUE DIVISION (2).

Julia Gunn’s team have performed very well in Division (2) and are now placed 2nd. (20) pts. behind Sydney Uni (24) pts. They play one another on 16 June and we wish them all good luck. GO MANLY GO MANLY.

LADIES. 1/ 2.

Kate Ladbrooke’s team are leading this division and are certain Minor Premiers. 16th June they play the second placed team Chatswood at Keirle Park. Well played this year Ladies. Make sure your photos go up on the MLTC “Wall of Fame”.

 LADIES 2/1.

Rose Cumming’s team have performed very well this season and are currently running 5th. Good luck in your last two matches.

 LADIES1/3.

Lindy Meakin’s team is currently placed 6th with two matches to play. 16 June they play Western Suburbs at Wakehurst and could move up for a chance to make the semis.

 MEN’S PREMIER LEAGUE TEAM.

Our Premier team captained by Sam Withell are currently in 3rd place. They play 6th placed team Kooroora on 16 June at Manly 2.35 pm. 23 June they play Canterbury/Bankstown also at Manly 2.35pm.

Team member Michael Tebbutt is currently ranked 2nd in iPR with 6.643pts. Great Play Michael.

Members please turn out and support our Premier team on 16 and 23 June and watch some great Doubles Play. GO MANLY. GO MANLY.

 TEAM 1/1.

Ryan Mitchell’s team have been able to field a team each week, despite injuries to 4 of his team. At full strength they should move up the ladder with two matches to play.  Good work Captain Ryan.

 DIVISION 1/3.

MLTC have two teams in this division. Team 3 captained by Craig Withell have performed very consistently this season and are in second place. At full strength they have an excellent chance of winning their division. Team 4, Dave Sullivan’s warriors have been plagued with injuries but are returning to full strength for the next two matches. Dave has been a great team captain and has brought up players from the lower division to assist with injured players. Thanks go to R.R. Hill, Paul Davies and Darren Good Giles for helping Dave’s team avoid forfeits.

 DIVISION 1/5.

We have two teams in this division.

Scott Blackburn’s team is currently placed 6th. Only two points separate teams 3-6. A good performance on 16th June and 23 June will get them into the semi-finals. Mike O’Connor’s team are currently 4th and are also very keen to make the semis. Again GO MANLY, GO MANLY.

 DIVISION 2/3.

Ben Vaughan’s team are placed 2nd and are certain finalist. Great play team 7.  Robin Koh will finish his University study this year and will return to his home in Singapore.  Robin on behalf of all the members thanks go to you for being a part of our great Club. You have been instrumental in getting your team into 2nd place. Team 7, let’s give Robin a great send off by winning this division.  Again GO MANLY GO MANLY.

 DIVISION 2/4.

Manly team 8 under R.R. Hill’s captaincy have been very unlucky not to win more matches. Placed 5th, they will have to win the next two matches to qualify for a semi-final position.  Robert, your team can do it. I know you can “fire” them up.  Again GO MANLY GO MANLY.

 DIVISION 2/5.

Team 9 has been our best performer and are on top of the ladder with 77 points.  They play Western Suburbs and Cammeray next and will be Minor Premiers. Congrats to captain Col Hamilton for a job well done.  We all look forward to seeing your photo on the “Manly Wall of Fame.”

 DIVISION 2/7

Teams 10 and 11 are at the bottom of the ladder. “Could Have” and “Should Have” performed better. Team 11 play Mosman (competition leaders) 16 June and have the bye 23 June. Team 10 have to play Cheltenham on 16 June and Neutral Bay on 23 June. Team 11, Captain Ron Jeffs, (also Club Vice-president) and team 10 captain Ray Kirby have agreed that team 11 will finish ahead of team 10, which means that team 10 will be the “woodenspooners.”  However Captain Ron has agreed to accept a challenge from team 10 for the wooden spoon position. This match is to be played on a date to be announced. Ray Dummett, I heard has started trembling already. I don’t blame him.

 CONCLUSION.

MLTC entered a record number of 15 teams in the 2012 Autumn Badge Season.  MLTC also sponsored a Men’s and Ladies Premium team.  10 out the 15 teams could be semi-finalists.

Congratulations and good luck for the rest of the season.

A special thanks to all the Team Captains who have worked hard

to field teams each week.

Your efforts are greatly appreciated in making our 2012 season a  very successful one.

Yours truly,

Owen

Club Captain

Badge Practice - starts Saturday Feb 4

With the club now having 15 Badge teams, a roster has been drawn up to utilise the courts we have available on Saturdays.  The roster will start this Saturday February 4.

Please study the Roster carefully, find out your team’s court allocation and commit to that time for practice for the next five weeks. Captains do not have to call and book courts. Please follow the court roster.

Captains and vice captains, please obtain balls from the court captain of the day, also water and ice is available from the back storeroom.

To best utilise the two hour time slot, captains should run drills for the first hour and play short sets of seven games, with no add scoring for the second hour. Captains are encouraged to try out as many doubles team combinations as possible, before deciding on your permanent partners for the upcoming badge season.

Good luck to all,
Owen
Club Captain.
